Christmas Day!

So we pretty much knew that Christmas day was not going to be the hot and sunny beach day that we had imagined when we knew we’d be in Australia for Christmas so we made sure we had lots of nice food, Sam and Kelly’s DVD collection and their Wii! We had a lazy morning while Ben did our bacon sarnies on the BBQ and we opened pressies in our PJs. We had set a $10 limit for each other so we had something little to open on the day! Ben got me some cute summery PJs, sweets and blank CDs so we can burn some tunes for Gunther from Sam and Kelly’s CD collection! I got him a bright green Frisbee and water pistol (hoping to play on the beach on Christmas day!) some sweets and a Bob Marley CD! Then Ben had to start on his ham! He bought a 7kg ham to bake for dinner and all the dinners to come for the next week! While he lovingly took care of his ham I was watching a childhood favourite “Yogi’s First Christmas”, which was on TV! We both pitched in preparing dinner, I of course did the roasties, and Ben did pretty much the rest! I set up the table and we sat down to our Christmas dinner! It was delicious! After a while we also had Christmas pud, but missed having the usual clotted cream, the thick cream here was not a patch!!! We were desperate to get outside for a walk and some fresh air, but the weather was awful all day! But thankfully by about 4pm it cleared up enough for us to walk down to the end of the road and set foot on the beach, albeit in a Pac A Mac!! We took some pictures to show we had been on the beach on Christmas day, but not quite how we had imagined! It was so lovely to get out and get some fresh air! After a lovely long walk we came back to the flat and played some Wii bowling, and dare I say I kicked Ben’s ass in the first two games! We were then able to watch the Queen’s speech at 6.30pm, well before the UK! We also skyped with Carol and Mike which was great! It was so funny that they were just starting their day and we were finishing ours off! It was great to speak to them and wish them a Merry Christmas! We spent the evening watching TV, and playing Wii with a few drinks which was lovely. Unfortunately Ben got better at Wii bowling while I got worse, so he won 3-2! Oh well, just like when we went real bowling! Overall it was a good day, I certainly had my moments feeling very homesick, but we had each other and had a special day just the two of us!
