Arrowtown and Easter Day

On Friday we had a lovely drive back to Queenstown, the weather was really nice! The drive was beautiful and we saw lots of sheep again! We checked into the campsite at Queenstown, and then drove straight to Arrowtown, a small town nearby. We had read about some nice walks there, and that it was a nice little town. The weather got better and better, the sun was shining, and the sky was so blue, and the autumn trees looked fab! The town was buzzing with people, it was such a quaint little place. It was a major Gold Mining city in the 1800’s and still has that feel about it. We had the best pie for lunch sat on a bench in the park in the sunshine. Went for a lovely walk along the edge of the river, both looking out for gold on our way! Ben went into the river a bit, and came out with sparkly boots, but that’s as close as we got! We went to a nice little sweet shop and got some ‘millions’ which I really enjoyed, haven’t had them in ages!
Sunday 24th April, Easter Day!
This morning we drove to Glenorchy which is another little town with some lovely walks. The drive was lovely and the sun was shining again which was great! We did a lovely loop walk around the lake there, which runs along a boardwalk most of the way, around a lagoon, and then through the golf course. After our lovely walk we drove to Wanaka, and stayed in a place called Lake Hawea, another free night! We went for another walk after lunch around the lake there, but it was really windy, so we didn’t stay too long! We got back and had a cup of tea and a cream egg, which was our Easter egg this year! It was a lovely day full of fresh air! We rented a movie from the campsite called ‘Whale Rider’ which is a New Zealand film and it was really good. It won lots of awards, and I really enjoyed it!
