Abel Tasman National Park

On Sunday we visited the information centre to find out about the Abel Tasman National Park, which is supposed to be a beautiful place to visit. We had thought about doing a kayak tour around the waters there, as it is a really good way to see the park, and you can visit a seal colony. So, we picked up a few brochures, but it was pretty expensive. We also found out that you cannot drive into the park, only to the edge of it, and to get to the most beautiful parts it's about a 4 hour walk there, and then four hours back. We decided to drive up there and see what we fancied. Sadly the weather wasn't fabulous, so we decided not to bother with a kayak tour as it was a lot of money, and we wanted to do it in the sunshine, not the cloud and rain! So we went for an hours walk to a lookout, and an hour back across the beach which was nice. The National Park was nice, but the weather makes such a difference! Things always look so much better when the sky is blue and the sun is shining! So after our walk we made a plan for the next few days, and decided to drive back to Nelson that day, so we wouldn't have so far to drive the day after when we wanted to book a wine tour.
