The first one!

So, here it is, my first Blog post! Those of you who know me know that although I have a facebook, email and can generally use a computer, I am not the most technologically advanced of people, so this is a huge feat for me! You can thank, (or maybe not after you're bored of reading my inane drivel!) Rachel Stevenson for setting this up for Ben and I as a way of keeping in touch while we are away on our exciting adventure!
Well, we are leaving a week tomorrow, Monday 6th September, and at the moment Ben and I seem to be avoiding talking about the trip as its far too real and scary! I really wanted to start this blogging malarchy earlier to keep everyone posted about the journey so far, but time has evaded me! We cannot believe that this time next week we will be spending our last night in Blighty for 10 months!
The picture above shows me in my new walking boots, doing the necessary 'wearing in' that I have been advised to do! I was not actually planning on getting walking boots, but was reliably informed by Ben during a conversation about shoes that I would of course need walking boots for the jungle treking! I think at that point I realised that we needed to sit down and get on the same page about this trip! So, walking boots bought and 'worn in' I think I am nearly ready for the off!
As many of you would expect I have had a few lists floating around in preparation for this trip! These many different lists have now been condensed into a FINAL 3 page list that I have been gradually working through! Next on the list is a 'practice pack' - which should provide more than enough material for my next post!!!!! I have been putting it off , and putting it off, knowing that I have to get realistic about the amount of stuff that will fit in one backpack that I can carry! Well, we shall soon see!
